Adult and Family Tours - Adult Workshops

Canyonlands Field Institute announces an oral history workshop with Dee Garceau at our Professor Valley field camp outside of Moab, UT. Develop interviewing and listening skills, explore issues of reciprocity and collaboration between researcher and subject, discuss storylines and interpretation. Garceau is a published historian and filmmaker with a doctorate in American Civilization from Brown University, currently on the faculty at Rhodes College.

Our Professor Valley Field Camp is located on Bureau of Land Management Land about 20 miles from Moab. Amenities include solar-powered electricity, culinary water delivered from town, limited rustic hot showers, vault toilets, campfire area with seating. We provide roomy Lakota-style Earthworks tipis with cots for sleeping. Participants bring own sleeping bags, pads, pillows and ground cloths as well towels and toiletries. Rental kits are available. We provide healthy, balanced meals, snacks, water, lemonade, coffee, tea with menus that accommodate meat and not-meat eaters alike. For additional dietary concerns, you may bring supplemental foods (storage provided in cook yurt; no adjustment to fees.)

Camping overnight at the field camp is encouraged. Otherwise Red Cliffs Lodge or Sorrel River Ranch are the closest lodging and Moab, Utah is the nearest town about 35 minutes away. Price TBA soon.
