    River Skills - An Introduction to Whitewater Rafting. Learn the skills needed to safely boat Western rivers. Covers the basics for beginners. Includes a Westwater Canyon overnight trip. Class I-IV rapids.

    April 1-3, 2011

    Fee: $340 Adult - $250 Youth
    Deposit $125.00     applies to total fee, full balance due 30 days prior.

    Overview:
    This course is designed as an overall introduction for the aspiring beginning guide or novice private boater. Trip includes an outfitted trip through Westwater Canyon on the Colorado River, all meals starting with dinner Friday through lunch on Sunday, river use fees, shuttle and intensive instruction on the many aspects of boating. Youth over 12 welcome. Starts and ends in Cisco, Utah.

    An Introduction to Whitewater Rafting

    Join our experienced team as they guide you through Westwater Canyon. During the weekend we will explore river dynamics, ecology, rowing and paddle skills, equipment use and rigging, basic river safety, proper minimum impact camping and kitchen practices for western rivers and get some first hand experience piloting oar boats and paddle rafts.

    We will be learning on the Colorado River thru Westwater Canyon, a famous class III-IV stretch of whitewater that offers challenges to both novice and seasoned boaters alike. Youth over 12 welcome with a parent or chaperone accompanying them. Wetsuits or drysuits are required due to time of year and temperature of water. CFI has some rentals available if needed.

    Enrollment is limited to 15 participants.
