Public Relations Intern

Spring 2013 Internship Dates: April 17th through July 22nd. Application due by December, 2012.
Fall 2013 Internship Dates: August 7th to October 29th, Application due by June 15th, 2013.
A $100/week stipend provided; plus housing provided in a shared, co-ed bunkhouse in exchange for 8 hours work trade per month. Completion/travel award $100.

Gain valuable experience that will help you build your resume for work with non-profit organizations! This is an internship in development (fund raising) and program marketing. Internship work is primarily administrative office work but does include up to 10 days in the field assisting with youth or adult programs.
The internship teaches all aspects of public relations (marketing and fundraising) at a small non-profit: event management, data base record keeping, donor identification, membership appeals, program marketing and sales, grant research and writing; obtaining sponsorships, and there will be some “front desk” reception experience and some general office duties. Intern will also have the opportunity to complete or help complete several major projects Depending on the season; this may be a major event, print, internet or video project, fund appeal, or other by mutual agreement.
The work generally includes about 50% office/administrative tasks, 30% creative and technical writing, 10% analytical and critical thinking, 10% physical work (such as assisting field staff or maintenance or driving shuttles.) The intern will have the opportunity to go on a CFI trip, CFI day tours, and assist with Professor Valley Field Camp.
Regular schedule will eventually be Thurs-Mondays with Tues. and Wed. off. Work days will vary in length averaging 7-8hrs/day. Return travel stipend paid for successful completion. A vehicle is not required for intern duties but is highly desirable to obtain supplies and enjoy the Moab area. Intern provides own meals (small shared kitchen available) except when on CFI programs.
QUALIFICATIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Become familiar with the mission and programs of CFI.
- Must have previous work experience in office setting, have strong customer service, project management and written communication skills.
- At least two years of college completed.
- Minimum age is 21 due to vehicle insurance requirements.
- Clean driving record for at least 3 years (must submit Motor Vehicle Report with application.)
- First aid and CPR training.
