Fun Summer Camps!

Parents of middle schoolers and teens: When school is out for the summer, what are the kids going to do?

CFI has the answer… Mountain & River Fun at our Summer Youth Camps!

CFI offers fun and educational middle school or teen camps every summer to keep your son or daughter engaged, excited to learn, forging new friendships, and staying involved in their community. We have years of experience taking school groups out into the field and on our rivers, teaching them outdoor skills through stories, hands-on experiences, new skills, service projects, and simple ways to connect with and appreciate nature.

Every summer, CFI offers 2 sessions of our popular La Sal Mountains Explorer Base Camps – ecology for kids that want to combine active time outdoors and learning cool stuff about our forest and rivers! This is an exciting opportunity for kids entering 5th through 8th grades to participate in an awesome learning adventure during the summer months. Ecology Summer Camp is for kids who want to be active, have fun and learn about our amazing backyard La Sal Mountains and Colorado River.

Get your kids entering 7th through 12th grades involved in our Teen River Skills Day Camp where they learn to navigate whitewater rivers through a hands-on rafting and ducky trip with CFI’s experienced Naturalist Guides. In the heat of the summer, spend three awesome days paddling and rowing the classic “Daily” stretch of the Colorado River outside Moab. For older teens entering 9th through 12th grades, spend a whole week rafting and paddling for 6 days on the Colorado River with our River Adventure Week for Teens. Learn how to navigate Class I-III whitewater and stay cool in the summer heat!

Summer Day Camp: Sustainable You! Summer Camp, co- sponsored by USU Moab, gets kids into their community where they learn how they can improve their environment by investigating local waterways, the ways we travel, and how we deal with recycling and garbage. Experience meaningful AND fun activities. Kids will develop a stronger sense of place, empowerment, and positive hope for the future of our natural environment.

Finally, over Labor Day weekend, high school students can get a taste of the wilds of Canyonlands National Park and learn about how this exquisite place became a national treasure and the people behind its making. During the Bates Wilson Youth Camp, students will experience a jeep adventure, get to know great CFI guides and how they are inspired to work in guiding, education, and conservation, and gain wilderness living skills.

Get your teens entering 7th-12th grades out this summer and into the beautiful desert and mountain environments of this place we call home. We’re here to show them something new!

Scholarships are available for children attending Grand County Schools. See each camp description for details.
