School Discounts and Scholarships, Reservations, and Cancellations

CFI Offers Discounts for Schools and Youth Programs

  • Early Bird Discounts
  • Chaperone Discounts
  • Student Scholarships

Early Bird:

To encourage early commitments that aid our staffing and support planning, CFI is pleased to offer to ALL schools, colleges and youth groups: Early bird discounts: one participant free when the deposit for a spring reservation is paid by October 15 or a fall reservation is paid by May 15. To secure the dates that you want and to obtain our Early Bird Discount, we encourage you to act soon, as our calendar fills quickly especially for May and September of each year.

For groups of 15 students or more, one chaperon is free and a second is half-price.

Additional scholarship/discounting is available to K-12 public schools and Indian Reservation Charter Schools.  We are initiating a new scholarship/discount program starting in 2014. Please start your application by completing: Scholarship Application for Public Schools (pdf).

There is a scholarship fund developed each year through annual fund giving at CFI and thus a cap exists on the total amount that can be awarded for this school year; so please apply early! The awards are based on the percent of the school’s student body enrolled in the Federal Free & Reduced Lunch program (not just students on this field trip.) The scholarship/discounts will be as follows: If 5-25% FRL, then CFI regular school trip  fees will be discounted 10%; if 26-50% FRL, then 20% discount, and if 51% or more, then 30%. You are asked to provide documentation of the FRL rate on your scholarship application.

“All lessons were hands-on, real-life, high impact, and were taught with meaningful expectations – therefore, they produced a great response from the students …
A highlight was the bonding among a diverse group of students in one of the most beautiful places on earth.” Principal Melinda Snow, Grand County, Utah, Middle School.

Once you have determined the best program for your group, it is time to make a reservation. Have dates, estimated group size, and your general travel plans to the area ready, and we can guide you through the reservation process. We will give you all the information you need, so you can concentrate on preparing your group for an exciting, educational adventure.

To secure the reservation, we request a non-refundable deposit (equal to full payment for five students) within ten days by CREDIT CARD ONLY – card retained on file for security.  We accept Visa, Master Card, American Express and Discover. Final payment may be made by check or credit card. We request payment on due dates and School Registration Forms and School Risk Forms in advance on due dates or late fees will be assessed to cover our additional last minute costs.

We offer discounts for early registration as well as scholarships for public schools and nonprofit youth groups.

Please inquire about our payment and form deadlines/cancellation/refund/drop and add policies for your particular trip and season. Our contract is with the school/group and not with individual student families. We encourage you to purchase trip insurance to protect your field trip investment in the event of last minute cancellations. Our general cancellation policy is outlined here but each school contract will have a cancellation clause tailored to meet the specifics of that trip.

Give us a call, and we can answer all of your questions about the reservation process.
