Bluff, Utah

Bluff is located in south-eastern Utah, along the banks of the San Juan River, and 94 miles south of Moab. This remote, small, picturesque town along Highway 191 offers travelers a place of beauty and simplicity and is a little more than an hours drive from numerous National Monuments, a National Park and Recreation Area, Navajo Tribal areas and other scenic attractions.

The town has a population of approximately 300 and offers a variety of lodging; historic inns, bed and breakfasts and standard motels. There are restaurants and cafes, a small grocery/general store (which sells beer), a post office, laundromat, LDS and Episcopal church services, and several fine trading posts which sell quality American Indian arts and crafts. Bluff does not have a medical center, bank (although there is a bank machine), drugstore, or liquor store. Monticello, Utah (48 miles north) has a liquor store open from 12:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday. The nearest medical facility is in Blanding (26 miles north).

How To Get To Bluff Utah

Major airline connections are possible via Albuquerque, New Mexico with a connecting flight to either Farmington, NM or Cortez, CO. Or you may wish to fly via Denver, CO with a connecting flight to Durango or Cortez, CO. If you plan to visit other sites in the Four Corners region, you may wish to fly via Salt Lake City, UT, Grand Junction, CO or Las Vegas, NV. The CLOSEST airport is Cortez, CO (1 1/2hour drive). Rental cars and vans are available at all airports. The rental companies offer reasonable weekly rates and are used to accommodating remote area travel itineraries.

We suggest you allow a few days before or after the CFI program to visit Mesa Verde National Park, Hovenweep National Monument, Edge of The Cedars Museum, Natural Bridges National Monument, Arches National Park, and Canyonlands National Park.
